OK so I'm desparate for a tuner, things are happening which is good... In the mean time here is soemthing I discovered after purchasing a new Moto V60 Cell phone.

They Make a FM headset radio with earplugs. If one were clever they could interface the earplugs to a line driver (not sure what is actually needed here) which could go to the input of the Empeg. Come to think of it there is also a microphone on the headset which could interface with the Empeg microphone....I'm going to hack away tonight and see what I can come up with... I'm not that clever but I AM motivated!!

There are other cell phones (cheaper) with radio options which could be interfaced too (I got the $$$$$ moto for nearly free after hassles with Cingular)

Sounds a good idea... you might need to cannibalise a headset, or just find out the connector type. Shove it in the empeg's aux-in and you should be sorted.

However, note that these systems often use the headset wire as an FM aerial (which is one of the reasons you can't use the radio without a headset), so if you're going to do this, the signal might vary - but most importantly, try and make the cable run from the mobile to the empeg approximately the same length as the original headset wire.

Let us know how you get on!

Cheers,

A.

No, I never installed my player cause I knew I was gonna sell the car eventually. Did you do an install?

I'm just curious, how much did you pay for yours? And was it in good condition? Mine is a '91 4-door and I'm trying to sell it for $4200.

yes i did and it was an absolute nightmare
I had to rip out all the factory amps and replace them with
aftermarket 6x9's(rear) and 4x6's (front) had to fabricate a mount for the front doors. Had to rip apart the interior to run cables.
then on top of all that I had custom fab mounting hardware for the empeg in the dash. All in all it took me two days to complete. (Im still plagued with problems from the amp, i think it has a bad soldier somewhere, the rear speakers keep dropping out at low volume)

I practically stole mine. Mine is a 92 GXE I managed to get away with paying $2100 for it. It had 97,000 miles on it when I bought it. (some grandmother used to own it so it took me $100 just to get the old lady smell out of it. )
It was in good condition IE. The interior was in great shape a few stains but they came out with carpet cleaner. The side mirror had a bout with something and lost. it is still on the car but the mirror and the housing are cracked severely.
