It seems like almost every time I get in my car and turn on my Mk.2a, the dimmer is lower than I have it set to (100%). Ok, well, not every time, but it gets pretty rediculous that I want the thing set at FULL brightness and I get in my car in the day time and have to squint to see anything. Then I go to Dimmer and keep pushing the button towards 100% and with every 2 or so button presses, the dimmer will change from 100% to 80% to 100%. When I go back down through the dimmer, 80% may seem like 100% or 50% or 0. That is the same for all the settings. This dimmer is crazy.

Is there a way to make sure the dimmer stays at 100% ALL the time? I would think that keeping it on 100% would do that, but I guess that is obviously not the case.

I read in the forums about a similar problem just now that Hugo was saying could be a possible warrantee thing. Do you know if they will repair (solder the capacitor) for free? I am not too up on soldering capacitors to circuit boards. I don't have that steady a hand. Let me know if you have heard whether this is covered under the warrantee?

Thanks!

I don't see how the FAQ entry's statement of "Contact support" can be any more clear. For final decisions on whether something specific is covered by warranty, only they can answer.

So please, contact support.

Yes, I have contacted support. I should have rephrased the question to: Have you heard anything from anybody about whether the factory has done this work in the past? I really just wanted to get a feeling of whether you have heard anything about this problems solution. I figured it was in the FAQ so MANY people have inquired about it.

No need to bite my head off.

If you do send it to support - they will take good care of you. All RioCar work is done in Cambridge UK by the the empeg team. David usually handles it all - so you don't have to worry about someone who doesn't know what they are doing getting their hands on your player.
