Currently, if you hit the volume button, it immediately changes the volume setting. There is also no way you can just see the volume level on the display (that I'm aware of).

By comparison, on my cheapy Philips CD player, the first volume push shows the current setting for your information, and only the second push will start the adjustment.

So, how about that a single button push on volume does not change the volume, but displays the current setting, and any subsequent button push inside a preconfigured hold delay starts the increment/decrement?

I know this is a feature on many car-fi's. But what for? I think your ears will show (tell) you the status of the volume - if it's too loud or not.
I think it's not too bad to chance the volume directly when pushing the button cause that's usually the reason why I push the button.

The Idea is OK, but I have this tentensy to set the volum to 30, 35, 40 or 45 on my radio, instead of that sounds right.

Why push the volum nob if you don't want to change the volume

I think the Mk2 will solve our problems. Would be kind of strange if you use the rotary control and the volume doesn't change but displays the status.

My Alpine with a rotary volume control does this as well. The first rotation-click displays the volume, and then subsequent rotation-clicks alter the volume.

Maybe you have it paused... maybe the music hasn't started playing yet and you want to know if your ears are going to bleed when it starts.

This is especially useful when you have tunes that start out realllly quiet and then jump into loud music. You may look at the volume setting to confirm "no, the volume is fine, the music level is just really low". If you "go by ear" to move that low-level to something more audible, when the REST of the tune kicks in, you'll be feeling the pain.

that would help a lot with what they where saying on the other post (can't remember which one) about the first turn shows the setting, then the next changes the volume, yet I would still prefer the first turn method, again leaving the knob hold open for somthing else.
