My RIOCAR, does not work in the car. A week back I hit a big bump while
driving, it blew the inline fuse, I replaced it,and it was good for a while
then it happened a few times where when I hit other bumps it would
blow the fuse. Now as soon as I turn the car on acc it blows the fuse
or the LED blinks a little faster, and I hear the drive spin and no sound
no display. It all works fine on the AC power. Some times I do get the
no drive display. The wiring check out fine in car with meter.
I want it to work so bad, what can I do?
Thanks

Greetings!

It really sounds like a loose contact somewhere, perhaps on the wiring loom itself. If there is someone near you with another empeg, you might want to your unit in their car. This will determine if the problem is in the unit itself, or specifically in the car (sled or other wiring). At least, that will cut the variables down a bit.

Also check that there isn't anything loose rattling around inside the player - screws from the drive tray are common culprits - which might be causing a short.

Note that if you hear a 'captive ball bearing'-like rattle, it's the hard drive, which is normal.

Good point. For reference, the FAQ entry on the subject is here.

There are three possible rattle sounds you might hear:

1) Disk drive rattle (normal).

2) End-of-IDE-cable rattle (normal).

3) Loose screw (not normal). This sound is unmistakable and obviously different from the above two.

I fixed it! It was a ground in the remote/at (blue wire). It was a loose connection on an amp when it became loose
it would send a ground, it was hard to find, because when it works it works(I guess it would bump loose).
The EMPEG would shut down or blow line fuse. SO its all good now, I AM SO HAPPY! If my EMPEG is not good, Im not good.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FAST RESPONSE, you are all great, well, we are all great!
