Hi, i hooked up a mk2a into my friends audi lastnight, after everything was completed, i noticed lines that go across the screen from left to right. The dimmer wire is not hooked up, and i think the lines came up when i first manualy adjusted the dimmer control. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I should update that FAQ entry to also describe the tendency of the display to have dim and bright sections. However, I'm not sure whether that's what was being asked.

Can you be more specific when you say "lines"? Are the pixels of the display actually corrupted, or is it just a slight variation in the overall brightness?

The lines are glowing pixels that are much brighter than the text on the screen, they are horizontally parallel but not exactly straight, from the left to the right the pixels slightly move upward.

Sounds like a faulty display, then (or a blown fuse on the main board). Contact support.

You can only see them at night, tonight i will try and get a picture of the empeg to post. the deck does have a red lense on it

Oh, you said they are brighter than the pixels, and you didn't say you had a red lens. You also didn't say you could only see them at night.

You probably don't have a faulty display, then, you're just seeing the cathode filament wires. This is normal, as was stated in the FAQ entry first linked.
