I've had my empeg for a couple months now. It's been just fine- but yesterday I noticed kind of a visual anomoly on the VFD. towards the center of the display there are a couple horizontally shaped areas (near the filament wires) where things appear darker. Semi-dead pixels? I don't know. All I do know is it doesn't look the same, and it kind of bothers me..
it makes it look blurry in that area. Is this all normal? It can't be..

if anyone is interested in seeing pics, i'll snap them tonight when i get off work

Please check the new illustration added here and see if it's supposed to look that way. If not, contact support.

Not at all, I treat this thing better than my girlfriend. (hope she doesn't find her way to this web page) I carry it by the handle all the time, and just today I got given a little carrying bag by my eployer that the Empeg will fit quite nicely into.

I guess I need to start trying to lock down a backup Empeg just in case something happens to this one.

Is the display completely garbled as pictured here? If so, FAQ entry.

Nope..

the darkened areas are horizontal, and they are underneath the filament wires. Upon close examination it looks as if the pixels beneath the wire are darkened. This is only towards the middle of the display, with varying lengths. It's like this underneath almost every wire in the middle of the display.

It tricks me into thinking it's blurry. very annoying..

please help!

*sigh* what a day

From your description, it sounds like the normal banding-effect of a VFD display, the thing described as being normal in the FAQ. Can you send us photos?

Nah, these dark areas don't go all the way from the left to right of the display it's just towards the center.

I will post pictures as soon as I get home from work. I already contacted support.

Contacted support, and David agrees.. something's up

Going to ship it as soon as I get the req'd info. It's going to be a LONG 7-14 days without my empeg. Wish I hadn't sold my old Clarion, it would help during the downtime

Still, empeg paying shipping both ways is uber neato. They sound like they will take care of me.

*twiddles thumbs*
