okay i have just got my hands on a nice new BMW 325TDS

the problem is i want an idiot guide for the engine and apprently it isn't in the bently manual and haynes ain't worth it.

The only source known of is the manaul for BMW dealers on cd rom

anyone know anywhere to get info on the diesel engine.

Oh, c'mon, Paul. How different could it be from the diesel engines you work on in your ships? Just take your ship's owners manual and scale everything down about 30:1 and you should be just fine.

I keep buying haynes manuals but normally they are real bad i have a haynes manual and it don't even give all the wiring looms, totally pants

Very diffierent indeed i mean i can't even find the door into the intake manifold how can you even inspect the piston rings.

Door? That IS a scary big engine! Do they have the same tolerances car engines have (clearances, sizes etc)???

Okay quicky on the last engine i sailed with. 26,000Bhp max torque around 230Tons/metre weight 650 tons dry and about 3 stories high.


Back to the BMW while doing the empeg install i discover the thing doesn't have a bloody throttle cable it is fly by wire on a 1994 car but it gets 45 to the gallon and is 140 Bhp and shitloads of torque.

Did I work that out correctly? 140,000 lb-ft of torque? I bet that's a pretty substantial towing capacity...

Yeah and they still probably want to convert it to a dualie so they can tow an even bigger trailer.
