Is there a way to disable the flashing led besides cutting it out?

Come to think of it.... would be a nice feature (so as to not draw attention to your empeg). Then again, a blinking LED might indicate some kind of alarm system to someone who doesn't know what an empeg is - or looks like.

I know from firsthand experience that blinking LED's don't deter thieves. So if there were a way to disable the standby light, that might be a good thing.

A config.ini option would be enough, although I'm starting to think that there might be a good use for an "advanced options" menu right there on the front panel to adjust stuff like this. Perhaps it could go in about the same place as the dimmer level control (wherever you end up putting that option).

I think I read in another thread that it isn't going to be possible for them to implement a "dimmer" function to the empeg due to limitations with the display. I may be wrong, but perhaps Hugo or Rob could clarify?

Nope, I saw the dimmer working on the Mark 2 prototype that Hugo demoed for me. A front-end hadn't been written for the software yet (he had to hand-edit dimmer values through a telnet session to the unit), but it worked at the hardware level and all it needed was a software implementation to complete the picture.

Maybe this is the wrong thread - but what happens to the flashing led if the empeg is wired to ignition and the ignition is turned off so that the empeg is down. Will the LED flush or will it be dark?

That's the case for the Mark 1, which has no separate ignition lead. (So if you shut off its power, there's no electricity at all to make the LED flash.)

But I don't know about the Mark 2, which will have separate leads for the ignition wire and the always-on power. Most likely it will flash when you shut off the ignition. And, like Hugo said, they'll eventually code the software in such a way so that the flashing is configurable.

When the mk2 is fully powered down, no lights come on at all. Only the power control PIC is running at this point (~1mA drain).

If the standby LED is on, then the unit is just snoozing and can be woken up with the front panel controls.
