I'm going to miss it (for the 3rd time). I'm honestly not doing this on purpose!
I have to be in Santa Clara on the Thursday before, and the first flight I can get back is on Saturday
Oh well... I'll definitely be there next year! From what it seems, most of the office here will be going anyway...

Next year I want to go and would gladly share driving from Scotland - but this year too many commitments:
new baby, sailing and go-karting competitions, and all my weekends for the whole summer are gone
Hopefully everyone will post pics and anecdotes for us poor unfortunates.

That brings to mind a BBS wish I have. I think it would be great to be able to search the user list by location. That way you can PM everyone local to you to set up meets and whatnot. Is this possible?

I make it 6 empegs in Scotland then - 2 up there in the granite city, 3 in Auld Reekie (2 in Subarus and one spare) and another one kicking about West Lothian/Stirlingshire somewhere (not sure what it's in. I have a feeling it may be a TVR, but I could be wrong)
Ours were installed by a local guy who did our amps and radar detector stuff as well.
Mini meet sounds good to me - we'll just have to make that difficult decision of which of the plethora of inns/pubs between Edinburgh and Aberdeen to use

May be possible, but some folks may not want their location or identity known.
Privacy issues can be a major issue for folk running BBSes, so it's best left up to individuals to make their info known if they want.

But it's already optional whether or not to enter anything in the "Location" bit of your profile. Waterman981 is only asking for a search function acting on the data already there.

Ah - fair enough. I didn't really think very deeply into that one now, did I?

Exactly what I mean... I mean if you didn't want your location known put "Mars" if you want. You can make it as general as you want. Say by country, or even city. I think it would be a good tool to arrange meets and such.

Say by country
Of course, the search engine needs to be smart enough to work out that anyone who thinks "Sandy, UT" describes his location to anyone in the world, must be from the USA...

There is a seperate Registry that does this, granted the individual would have to be registered here as well, but it does have a great search engine.

I had registered there before I found the bbs... however here we have over 2000 members... there it has 599 registered empegs... a slight difference in numbers. We wouldn't even really need to have it do a search... even just add that category when you are viewing the list... because you can sort up or down by any of those categories. I am sure what I am talking about would need to be in the BBS software itself, not something we could add on.
