Ugg, somehow I knew keeping XP on my desktop at work was a bad idea after I went back to 2000 on my laptop. I got tempted by the small UI changes like the hidden system tray and the grouping of programs next to each other (but not as one icon). Plus the wireless support. So I tossed XP back on the laptop, and it's already doing some odd things, as seen here:

As a side note, my media system at home running 2000 shows bytes instead of packets in the above status window. Anyone know how to change that to say bytes?

Hmm, if you've just reinstaled I assume you havn't had enough time to catch a virus? That amount of outgoing packets without anything coming back is downright strange, I'd run norton or your favorite virus checker and see...

I doubt it's a virus, thats over 2 million packets a second if it was a steady rate. I watched it count up a billion or two for no reason on the Dock NIC interface. I'm passing it off as a weird glitch, and will be ready to snap my holographic XP disc in half if real problem start up again.

From what I've seen, the packets/bytes is dependant on the driver for the NIC. Try using a different driver?
