Well my player dose this to me lik once a week now, ill get in the car boot it up, play song one, decied i dont like song 2, or 3, so i flip past them and whoa no more music, the song titles come up onto the screen, but the song counter is stuck at zero. i can push puase, and play but still nothing. i can go thru all the menus on the player. i can even go back to song one it it will begin to play, but it wont go what it seems like the cache. Also another note, when its locked up if i go to another playlist, the player will then frezze completly at the loading screen. anyone have any ideas?

Do you have two disk drives? If so, it is likely that the second disk drive is working only intermittently. Hence the ability to start the playlist and play some songs, but other songs won't play.

yup tony i just happen to have 2 drives, one of them a brand i dont like to talk about the other is a happy ibm. ill take note on what songs play and what ones dont and get back to you, thanks.

It could just be a loose jumper on the second drive.
