Does your mod also have the beep fix? What does this DSP mod do? I'd just try it, but it requires a serial port to install if I remember correctly, and I don't have access to one at the moment.

The DSP mod is the fix for the beeps. That's it.
If you've got Hijack already installed then you can FTP it over but otherwise yes, you do need the serial port to upgrade it.

Thanks. I guess I was confusing it for a subwoofer out mod. I personally don't need or want a sub out board, but it has been brought to my attention that others do. Any thoughts on how to mod the kernel to enable the DSP's sub out?

I should really name it better next time. It's basically the v2.00b11 empeg kernel with Hijack v280 and the changes in the DSP initialisation that reenables the beeps. The kernel with FAT support actually has the DSP changes as well.

As for the subwoofer, I'll have a look at the manual for the DSP tonight when I get home. It shouldn't be too hard (famous last words... )

Sure. The patch needed for the S/PDIF board is attached to this message. It just changes the initialisation of one of the DSP registers. I've not noticed any problems with running it on a stock player as well so it should be safe.

Oops. I've moved some stuff around and must have a slightly different kernel tree than you. It's basically changing the OutSwi lines anyway. Should only be a few references of it.
