The tuner module is not that big and can't be that complicated, does anyone have the schematics for it... to build one?

Read through the longest thread on the bbs here, and you will see you just need to wait to get your tuner.

Here and here are two screen shots of Patrick's work on the tuners. They are not the actual schematics, but show the complexity of the thing somewhat.

I don't believe the actual schematics are (or ever will be) available. But please don't quote me on this.

Theoretically, when the kits are released, any monkey should be able to draw a schematic from examining the kits.

That is, if Patrick doesn't already include a schematic with the kit (for the purposes of troubleshooting your assembly).

The tuner uses a PIC microcontroller running empeg copyrighted code IIRC.
To build a tuner you would need to source either a pre-programmed PIC or get hold of the .hex file to blow your own - this in itself is probably enough of a showstopper.

If the copy protection bit has been set, getting ahold of a preprogrammed PIC won't help unless you get to keep it because it is unlikely that you would be able to extract the firmware from the chip to duplicate it.

Aside from all the comments above, you'd probably have issues sourcing a single tuner module. Your best option is to be patient and to buy one of Patrick's kits when they become available.
