All you have to do is add ,#401 as a dialing prefix in v3.0 to enable "phone calls" over ethernet.

I really haven't played with 3.0 yet (I just rencently allowed my tivos to upgrade), so I am not sure if you will be able to get a telnet window out of the box. With 2.x you had to install the driver and all that.
