Oh yeah, I have many frustrating stories of talking to Dell tech support, as do many other IT professionals that I've known. I almost didn't buy those 1905FPs because I knew I'd get no support; but they were "such a good price" that I couldn't resist. Pah, now they're $150 less, I might even buy one on my own money. Might.
Oddly, days after I ordered the Dell 1905FPs for work, I saw on the Gateway website some 19" monitors which had a similar model number. I wonder if they are also rebranded and repackaged high quality Samsung panels; maybe even the same panel as the Dells. I couldn't find that speecific info, and they didn't seem to have height adjustable base and built in USB hub, so I didn't regret my Dell purchase too much.
I'd rather buy Gateway any day. I've had great results with their service. Maybe it's more strict now, but I've had no hassle getting things replaced with Gateway.
