Not going to happen unless they change the laws of physics or the ethernet standard. My vauge memory from my EE networking class is that CSMA/CD won't work right if network nodes don't know if they stepped on someone else's transmission, which is determined by the packet length and the speed of electrons through coper.

Of course, longer runs will probably work most of the time, but there's no garantee, and they will degrade the speed of the network.
