Does anyone know what the best way to scan in a photo album would be? Here's the situation:

One photo album of a few hundred old photos (like 50 years old). I started scanning them at work, but the process is daunting, not to mention tedious (damn Photoshop/HP scanner), and I'm still not certain I'm getting the best quality out of the photos.

The ideal situation is that I can take this photo album to a reputable shop and have them scan it all in for a fee. I understand that it will be pretty expensive, but the problem I'm having is actually finding a place. I'm trying a Google Local search, but not turning up anything. If anyone else wants to try, I'm in the 22101 area code.

I want to take these somewhere because I really don't want to ship off this photo album.

Can anyone help me out?
